2020 Community of International Science-Industry Parks Forum

On December 2, the 2020 International Science and Technology Industrial Park Community Innovation Development Forum hosted by Great Wall Enterprise Institute (GEI), China-ASEAN Science and Technology Innovation Policy Research Center (CASTIP), and Community of International Science-Industry Parks (CISIP) was successfully held in Beijing. The event attracted more than 50 representatives and researchers of innovative and entrepreneurial organizations from Thailand, Indonesia, Serbia, Pakistan, Montenegro, Hungary, Georgia, Brazil, Egypt, Oman and other countries to participate in the video interaction.

The forum adopted the form of offline meeting and online video simultaneously, bringing together representatives from domestic and foreign government agencies, international organizations, science and technology parks, and digital economy enterprises. Themed on “a new chapter of post-epidemic innovation and collaboration”, the forum released the "Belt and Road" Science Park Development Report 2020, shared development experiences such as the digital anti-epidemic and the cultivation of new economic enterprises, with parks of various countries, and invited China’s unicorn enterprises to display and exchange their stories. The moderator was the Director of International Business of GEI, Mr. Wang Mingyang. Wang Qinglin, Deputy Director of Department of International Affairs of China Association for Science and Technology, Pasupha Chinvarasopak, Minister Counselor for Science and Technology of Embassy of Thailand in China, Bojan Lalić, Advisor to the Minister, Cabinet of Minister for Innovation and Technological Development in Serbia and Wang Delu, President of GEI delivered opening speeches at the meeting.

Mr. Wang Qinglin stated that the “Belt and Road” platform has supported many units, including GEI, to integrate technology, enterprises, talents and finance to promote the connection between supply and demand and enhance the innovation capabilities of enterprises.

Ms. Pasupha Chinvarasopak stated that Industrial innovation and technological innovation have important significance for economic development under the pandemic; now it is necessary to promote more park cooperation and provide related support and services to ensure the continuous expansion and healthy development of the industry.

Mr. Bojan Lalić stated that the development of science and technology in Serbia has received strong support from the government; last year, tens of millions of national funds were invested in the support of technological innovation; and China is also one of our important partners.

Mr. Wang Delu stated that since the pandemic, GEI has relied on the CISIP platform to communicate with the world; in the future, we will expand our experience in China to the world, and cooperate with companies from various countries to cultivate new species and unicorns in the science parks.

 Mr. Wang Mingyang, the Director of International Business of GEI, shared the "Belt and Road" Science Park Development Report 2020. The Report analyzes the six major trends and four development models of the "Belt and Road" science parks, the development progress of China's science parks in 2019, and summarizes the construction status and future prospects of CISIP.

Dr. Kitipong Promwong, gave a wonderful comment on the report. He mentioned the Thai government is also actively changing the resource-intensive economic development model into a knowledge-intensive development model, supporting innovation and nurturing unicorns.

Dr. Raymond Tavares from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization delivered a keynote speech titled " Promoting inclusive and sustainable industrial development through establishment smart institutions and boosting innovative capacities ".

The CEO of Startup Genome, JF Gauthier delivered a keynote speech titled " The Global Innovation System and Entrepreneurial Enterprise Observation ".

7 Representatives from Peking University Science Park, Khon Kaen University Science Park in Thailand, Pakistan National Science Park, Novi Sad University in Serbia, Science and technology park of Montenego, and Hungarian Euro-Conti Park, Riau Science Techno Park of Indonesia delivered wonderful speeches, and shared the overall situation of the respective parks, the impact of the pandemic on the parks and enterprises, etc.

The representatives of Chinese digital anti-pandemic companies, Neolix, Terminus, and JinCheng, introduced their product features and contributions to the COVID19 fight, and interacted with representatives of various countries about the potentials in“Belt and Road” countries and future cooperation channels.

This time, the forum conducted in-depth discussions on the cooperation between international science parks and technological innovation enterprises, and put forward effective suggestions. In the future, CISIP will deepen the pragmatic cooperation of members, promote exchanges and communication between members, facilitate more technological products to serve the "Belt and Road" countries, and jointly promote the cooperation and development of technological innovation in the "Belt and Road" countries.
